Lucy’s Journal - Joyful June

Christina & Ruben’s perfect golden hour, by Chloe David

We’re halfway through June and there’s one word to describe it: joy.

The wedding season is in full swing and  we’ve got an amazing 8 weddings under our belt. As you can imagine things are busy in the Wiskow & White camp. I’ve just got back from Puglia where I squeezed in a 3 day wedding weekend and scouted some venues for some 2024/2024 events. If you’ve not been to Puglia, go go go! I’ve not been in summertime for a few years and I was reminded of just how gorgeous, relaxing and adventurous it is. I stayed at Casa Mora which I highly recommend.

The weather has been challenging and disappointing for many couples this summer, but somehow we’ve found sunshine at most weddings and our incredibly flexible supplier teams have done all they can to give our couples the very best days possible. You can see our season so far in our 2023 sneaks gallery where we’re sharing some of the highlights!

We’ve taken a moment to celebrate some big milestones for our team these last few weeks. Martina delivered her first fully planned wedding in June. A complex wedding with weather challenges, we knew Martina would thrive and she smashed it! Well done Marti!

Beth has been looking after our 2024 clients while I’m focusing on wedding delivery. Now isn’t the time to step back from booking a few last suppliers for our 2024 couples as demand remains high and costs continue to rise. Booking in now is integral to getting the good value and exceptional suppliers we need for our weddings.

This month we’re knuckling down on delivering our June weddings then pausing to reflect on what we’ve experienced and learnt, before heading in to a quiet July…where we’re even daring to take a short holiday. Danielle will spend time with her grandsons on the beach and I am heading to La Pescaia with my family, where we’ll be joined by some of my UK friends. Rest is needed!

Physically and mentally takes a lot to deliver a wedding the Wiskow & White way. In the time leading up we’re working on a wedding every single day and the day itself is often 16 hours, mostly on our feet. We give our weddings our all – we know we’ve got one chance to make it the best it can be and we go all in on that.

The things we’ve been reminded of so far this season:

-       Rain certainly does not dampen the spirit of an amazing wedding party

-       A clear and well liked *maybe not loved* wet weather plan saves a hell of a lot of anxiety, money and risk in the lead up to your wedding day

-       The suppliers you choose for your wedding make the biggest difference to how the day turns out, especially when there are weather challenges. Not all suppliers are flexible!

We are reminded at every wedding just what it means to love and be loved, and how lucky we are to create these occasions that celebrate exactly that.

Love, Lucy x
