Lucy’s Journal - July ‘23
The wonderful month of August is just around the corner and in Italy that means one thing: holiday!
No matter how busy things get, Italians always take time off, closing offices nation-wide and I love that. It’s something we have to plan around when planning weddings of course.
For the W&W team we have almost a wedding-free August until the end of the month when we’ll be at Tonnara di Scopello for the first time, back at San Galgano and San Pietro in Vale for some quite simply, show-stopping weddings. We’re really excited to get back to Sicily and work in the iconic venue that is La Tonnara. We’ve been planning Hannah & Andy’s wedding there for about 18 months now and it has it all. It’s going to be a serious party.
After years of covid dictating our calendars, this year we intentionally took a quieter July and August, anticipating the heat and everything that comes with it.
I’ve recently managed to steal a weeks holiday with my family at La Pescaia Resort. One of my favourite wedding venues and all round places to be. It is so relaxing. From the classic, cool bedrooms, to the organic food, spacious grounds and epic pool – it’s perfect for a relaxing holiday in July, when it pauses weddings to be what it does best, an incredible hotel.
We’ll be using the wedding-free time in August to rest and recoup ready for another Super September, bursting with weddings and focusing on our plans for our 2024 and 2025 couples. Each year at this time we re-visit our couples journey’s, set our milestones for the winter ahead and start the more detailed planning steps as these couples have patiently waited while we deliver the summer of weddings.
We’ll also be recording our first podcast episodes with some wonderful couples and industry celebs. I’m so looking forward to long chats with my couples and supplier colleagues, now turned friends – look out for the Italian Wedding Diaries, coming soon.
