The Story of Hannah & Andy’s Wedding

It was December 2021 when we first met Hannah & Andy. Our first call was full of ideas, energy and excitement as this gorgeous pair explained their vision for their wedding. We connected immediately and as we ended the zoom I thought, “I must work on this wedding!”

Hannah & Andy had Sicily in their sights from the start of planning and took a trip with Danielle to explore the best venues the Island has to offer. Firmly and finally they landed on the uniquely magnificent La Tonnara di Scopello. I finally followed along later that year and had the pleasure of joining Hannah, Andy and Danielle on a site inspection and some catering tastings…the trip did not disappoint.

What we loved about this project was something we couldn’t articulate at the time of acquiring it but over time we soon realised what our weddings had been moving more towards for some time: fully immersive events that touch every corner of the senses, embrace connection, authenticity and celebrate surprise, joy and fun.

Inspired by their love of travel, their true connection to so many friends and family around them and their admiration of authenticity of Italy, we searched high and low for the suppliers that would create this authentic community -like experience with us.

It started with the caterers who developed a highly personalised menu of dishes and wines that had a special meaning for Hannah & Andy.

A band that came together for this unique event and invited Andy to jam with them ahead of the wedding, creating the most epic evening entertainment on the wedding night.

And of course a photographer that would capture the wedding events with his magnificent eye for moments, aesthetics, fashion and detail: Benjamin Wheeler.

My brother performing “All I Need to Hear” by 1985 during the ceremony was so beautiful.
I loved our first sip of bubbles together as husband and wife right after the ceremony, with the Tonnara cliffs behind us.

Standing on one of the terrace balconies (which gives you a 180 degree view of La Tonnara) with my mum and bridesmaids, watching as the aisle - bursting with wild florals - and table decor were being brought to lifewas so surreal to see the vision finally unfolding.

Like with all my designs, we started with looking to the natural, unique tones of the location for our base of inspiration: the iconic buildings, the doors of the boat house, the sea and the deep red tone of the soil. At W&W we use a design approach that celebrates what’s already in the spaces. The details are our personal secret and love story with Hannah & Andy but let me tell you that every single item earned it’s place on that delicate table creating what I truly think was one of the best dining experiences in the world.

We had an “is this real life?!” moment together, before we entered the dinner reception seeing everyone there, in that special spot.
At the party, out family and friends joined in with the band - different people performed different songs - it felt like we were at a concert!

If Hannah & Andy proved anything with their wedding it’s that dedication to creating something unique and personal is beyond worth it, creating a guest-centric wedding is key and more than anything THE COUPLE BRING THE VIBE.

And one thing’s for sure, we delivered the wedding that we’d all dreamt of and it really was better than any of us could have imagined. I think you’ll agree that Benjamin’s photos take you straight in to the day where you can feel vibe of each frame from the delicate softer moments, to the raucous!

My Top 3:

  1. Watching Hannah’s brother perform live during their ceremony

  2. The entrance to dinner, to The White Lotus theme tune - shivvvvvvvers!

  3. Hannah & Andy’s first dance, high energy and the couple and the crowd LOVED it.
