What costs can be expected when planning an Italian wedding?

The main variables within a budget are: location (part of Italy), venue, number of guests and number of events.

You’ll also need to consider how many guests stay at your location and what you charge them to stay there. This can positively affect your budget.

We’ve outlined some of the costs to expect, below:

  • Civil ceremony venue / symbolic celebrant - 500-£1000

  • Wedding paperwork (steps at home and Italy) should you have a civil ceremony - 500-£1000

  • Reception venue - a villa with spectacular views and accommodation for 20-30 guests for 3 nights - 8000 - 60,000 euro

  • Catering for 60 people - usually a 5 course meal with unlimited drinks, bar and wedding cake - 9000- 12,000 euro. Expect to pay between 100 and 170 euro pp and for prices pp to go down if your guest numbers rise.

  • Photographer - 3000-10,000 (prices vary greatly depending on what's required)

  • Decor (flowers, lights and special touches)- dependent on each couples requirements but easily starting at 10,000

  • DJ and music systems throughout the day - starting at 1000 euro

  • Live music - 800 euro for a soloist, 2000 for a duo/trio and 6000-25,000 for a band, equipment hire and travel expenses

  • Transport (if guests are off site) - 1000 (a 28 person bus to and from the location)

  • Bride and Groom transport - a vintage car for the couple - 600 for a fiat 500, 800+ for a vintage convertible

  • Wedding planner - 4000+ depending on pricing model (ie. commission/flat fee) skills, experience and service

  • Catering other events - 4000 euro per event, for drinks and food (ie. pizza) for 60 people

We've not included some other costs that should be considered alongside this:

  • Clothing for bride, groom, bridesmaids and ushers

  • Wedding rings

  • Flights can be anywhere from 200-1000 return

  • Trips to visit locations and do tasting

What sort of total are we looking at?

In 2024 the average wedding in Italy is around 50,000 euro with 3 days of events. Some weddings are as low as 20,000 euro, some as high as 250,000 euro and everything in between. Weddings can be done on all budgets with the right knowledge and expertise
