Micro weddings in Italy
Another week, another covid blog…last week we gave a little advice about how to approach your 2021 wedding if you’re getting a bit worried about it happening.
We have received a few more specific questions from couples and want to give a little more info and keep your minds at ease (as much as we can at this time). We are not writing this because we think we need to consider 2021 micro weddings. We are highly positively for next year!
There are two key questions we’ve been getting:
What could a micro wedding look like
What could a micro wedding cost
So let’s get stuck in. Obviously this is all speculative but we’ll give it a go!
What could a micro wedding look like?
The facts:
In 2020, when weddings were allowed again they looked like this (end of May): 30 people, 1m spacing at tables, no party, no buffet, everyone in masks.
They quickly changed to (July): <100 people, 1m spacing at tables, staff wear masks, no buffets
Then (August): no maximum number of people, 1m spacing for those not seated in family groups, staff wear masks
At the end of September 2020, Italy went back to a maximum of 30 people at weddings.
Now, at the end of October 2020, weddings are not allowed to take place in Italy.
So the reality is that it could be a mix of restrictions and we won’t know till much nearer the season.
Aside from the obvious fact the wedding would be smaller, it may also be shorter. Depending on the size of your wedding, you may choose to change some of the layout and decor, too.
What could a micro wedding cost?
In scaling down your wedding, there are a few cases where you may make some savings:
Catering & Bar: Depending on the catering, a menu for 30 people could cost 180-200 euro pp.
Florist and decor: Your table/s will be a lot smaller and therefore the decor needs may be less
Transport: Perhaps you won’t need to transport guests home at the end of the night
Wet weather plans: You may not need a tent if you have booked one in case of rain.
There may be other changes that you make, to suit the new style of the wedding which could affect your music and other supplier choices.
In some cases, changing to micro weddings may happen very close to a wedding date and contracts with suppliers may not allow for flexibility in the volume of guests which may mean you’re already committed to a minimum spend.
Many micro weddings have gone ahead in the UK, with couples raving about their days. We hope to not have to consider planning these instead of the celebrations we have planned with you, but we’re ready to if it’s needed.
