Let yourself be wowed.

We’ve got a thing or two to learn from this years tenacious couples and we don’t want to let this wisdom pass us by.

At each wedding we have the pleasure of experiencing, we can't help but notice this year that couples are more bowled over by their weddings than ever before. Now these are some pretty epic weddings, of course, but the nature of the lead up to all W&W weddings this year has been one of uncertainty, stress and a lot of hard work for our couples. Just today a groom text me saying he’d never spoken to so many of his friends and sent so many texts in a week. His wedding is next week…

This extra work, uncertainty and in some cases anxiety, has meant that couples have parked some of the details of their weddings. In some cases we’ve secretly added touches to make their wedding even more special, or they’ve asked us to completely take the reins now that we know them so well, because they have no control over the state of the world, they realise that they don’t really have any over their wedding either. 

But do you know what? It's been the most amazing thing to see. When before perhaps sleep was lost by the couple the night before a wedding, worrying if the candles would be the right shade, or the lights were exactly in the right position…whether someone remembers to put out the confetti…all that’s gone now (and purely for us to worry about!) and it’s all about just getting married. It’s wonderful. When love is the focus and everything else fades away, the couple are on cloud 9 at just being there in Italy, getting married. All of the other amazing decisions they’ve made along the way knock them off their feet, moment by moment through the day and it’s an incredible thing to witness.

Like watching Becky walk in to see her dining table, that was a complete surprise to her…she couldn’t stop taking photos.

…Watching Craig in shock as a tenor walks in to serenade his guests...a complete surprise to him.

….Watching Tamsin squeal as the fireworks went off at her cake cutting...she’d forgotten she’d mention she liked them about a year before on one of our zooms.

…Santina as she spotted the surprise fiat 500 that she’d always wanted but had forgotten to ask for herself…

Our couples are the most important and precious thing about our job and seeing these gorgeous people have the wedding days they truly deserve is priceless. Watching them be fully present in their days and open to even more of that wow feeling is the only gift that time and covid has given us. We’d very much like the impact of covid to piss off now so that future couples go back to enjoybale wedding planning but this essence of letting go and letting yourself be wowed is something we'd love to take forward to inspire future couples...you don't need to know every detail, in fact it’s a better experience if you don’t…go on, let yourself be wowed.
